These terms apply to work carried out by Nelson Plumbing and Heating Ltd, company number 13649684, registered in England and Wales at Flat 62 Block B, Sillavan Way, Salford, Manchester, M3 6GB.

By asking us to quote or carry out work, you agree to these terms.

Quotes and prices

A quote is fixed once we have seen the job and confirmed it in writing. Any price given before we have seen the work is an estimate, and it can change if we find something that was not visible at the time. Where that happens we will tell you what has changed and what it means for the price before we carry on, not afterwards.

Quotes are valid for 30 days unless we say otherwise in writing.

Gas work

All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers. Notifiable work is registered with Gas Safe, which is what produces your building regulations compliance certificate.

If we find an appliance that is unsafe we will explain the classification to you and, with your permission, make it safe. Where an appliance is Immediately Dangerous we are required to disconnect it or turn off the gas supply to it. We cannot leave an appliance we know to be dangerous connected, whatever the circumstances.

Carrying out the work

We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, using materials that are fit for purpose.

Access is your responsibility. We need safe access to the property, the appliance and any isolation points at the agreed time. If we cannot get in, or the area is not clear enough to work safely, we may have to rearrange.

Please tell us before we start about anything you already know of that affects the work, such as previous leaks, pipework buried in walls or floors, asbestos, or structural problems. We are not responsible for pre-existing faults or for damage caused by hidden defects we could not reasonably have known about.

Timing

We will agree a date with you and keep to it wherever we can. Some things are outside our control, including weather, parts availability and jobs that turn out to be more involved than they looked. Where a date has to move we will tell you as soon as we know.

Payment

Payment is due on completion unless we have agreed something different with you in writing.

Guarantees

Work is guaranteed against faulty workmanship. Where a manufacturer guarantees an appliance we install, that guarantee runs directly between you and the manufacturer, and registering the appliance is part of what we do on installation.

A guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by someone else working on the system afterwards, system damage caused by a lack of servicing, or problems caused by water quality or debris in an existing system where we recommended a flush and it was declined.

Cancelling

Where you booked the work away from our premises or at a distance, for example over the phone or through this website, you have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

If you ask us to start the work inside that 14 day period and then cancel, you agree we can charge for the work already done and any materials already supplied.

Emergency work is different by its nature. If you ask us to attend urgently, you are asking us to begin straight away, and the paragraph above applies.

If something goes wrong

Tell us first. Ring 0161 515 9977 or email admin@nelsonplumbing.co.uk with the address, the date of the work and what has happened. We would far rather come back and put something right than have you sitting with a problem.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Liability

We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Otherwise, our liability for any one job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your job is the one published when you accepted the quote.
